Greetings all,
There was a great turnout for the planning & strategy
meeting Thursday evening, thanks to all who came out.
A lot of good questions were asked and some points that were
covered cleared up some confusion on the processes we must
go through should there be a labor action.
While nothing new to report, we as a unit must remain
vigilant and prepared.
One last point - this is a stressful period for everyone.
Please keep that in mind, do your best to keep emotions in
check especially around the work-site.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good
men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

Contract negotiation
team

I was recently shown a
pay scale from 10 years ago and the comment was made, “we
have come a long way.” We sure have made great progress in
benefits and pay for our folks in LL463. Reflecting about
the time period and what has changed in our careers at
Lockheed Martin and Canadian Aviation Electronics CAE, I
thought (speaking from a loadmaster’s perspective) we have
taken on 5 new courses and sweeping changes to the old ones.
The training period for a student loadmaster went from 40
days to near 70. Other crew positions have had similar
changes and the instruction proves to be a real challenge.
All instructors have to stay up on the newest training
information and techniques, which all gets flowed though our
support folks. The simulators are going, it seems, nonstop
and around the clock. Courseware is a never ending duty,
which is enhanced (not really) by the Air Force’s
publication releases and changes. I call it the book of the
month club, because changes come so frequent. The company
has enjoyed ISO certifications, which our company and
employee team have earned. Our courseware folks knocked out
hundreds of lessons for multiple C130 models using our core
lessons and experience. I have high hopes going into the
next contract negotiations, because we’ve earned it!

Start asking your fellow
workers about being an officer during the next contract. A
few folks are stepping down or retiring and when you
nominate them it's good to know if they will accept the
position for up to 3 years. For sure the President,
Secretary and notary positions will need to be filled.
